Darren’s Fresh Fish Ltd was established over 36+ years ago by local Fleetwood lad Darren Wakefield, His Grandfather and Father were Icelandic skippers of many Fleetwood Trawlers, so it was inevitable that Darren would choose this path of life as his chosen career.
Joining Darren into the business in 2003 was his wife Sam, Sam has brought a woman's touch to the business providing fresh ideas and sea food recipes which are changed on a regular basis. Sam is the daughter of Ex Icelandic Skipper John Whalley and has gained her knowledge from her fathers vast experience at sea for over 50 years.
The married couple certainly do provide a fantastic, reliable service to the people of Lancashire and never stop striving and looking for ways to make the business go forward.
He has been supplying Stocks Hall nursing home group in Burscough, St. Helens, Ormskirk, Mawdesley and Skelmersdale for the past 25 years, specializing in individual skinless and boneless portions for the residents with disabilities and visual impairments. We also supply the Hopvine Public House and Legh Arms at Mere Brow Tarlton
Darren also specializes in local caught Wild Seabass, Skate, Cod, Shrimps, Dover Sole and Plaice. These are available live or cooked and can be ordered by Phone, Text, Facebook or Twitter.
Darren is a registered member of the Fleetwood Fishmerchant Association (FFA), this gives him access to Fleetwood Fishing Market to buy the freshest catch of the day.
All Darrens Fresh Fish and Seafood Vehicles are refrigerated and are fitted with freezers for frozen products. They all carry the 5* Hygiene Award backed by the local councils & The Food Hygiene Rating Scheme (FHRS). They really are ‘Fish Shops’ but on wheels.
